Oooooh, doesn't that sound mysterious? Nah, don't get your sleuthing hopes up. No double life for THIS card maker. I barely can manage the one I lead!
I just made a project for Papertrey Ink's Make it Monday Challenge, where the theme is to stamp a double background.
I got out two of my Papertrey Ink stamp sets, Rosie Posey and Harvest Berries, got some inks, and got to work.
I made this--
I stamped the hexagon in yellow, then topped it with the leaves and a berry cluster from Harvest Berries in two greens. I really like the mix of a graphic image paired with the flowing botanical.
Then, just because I can't leave well enough alone, I made a label for my sentiment using PTI's Mat stack 3 dies, and then die cut from that label some leaves form the Harvest Berries die set. Then I die cut it again from a piece of the cardstock I use as my base, and inset it into the negative areas. Now, this took some concentration; saving and placing those tiny white pieces was an, uh, interesting feat, to say the very least.
I hand drew some sketchy lines around the edges of the label, added my sentiment (Stampin' Up), added a ribbon, a bow, and some gems, and that was that.
This is a fun technique to try. I may have to go at this again, with some other stamps, too!
Snowflakes and candy canes for Christmas, or falling leaves and pumpkins for Fall? Worth a shot!
Your turn!
Thanks for stopping by!
All Best-
Richard
I.JUST.LOVE.THIS. So great....and to think, I have the technology to follow your lead! Thanks for the great inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm impressed! Gonna have to try this technique!
ReplyDeleteTrouble is I'd probably get a headache wondering what to stamp together!
This turned out great!
Your background looks like wallpaper. Very nice. I'm eager to give this challenge a try.
ReplyDeleteI think you nailed it...lovely card!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Love how you've inset the Harvest Berry leaves into the label!
ReplyDeleteWow what a process and well worth it. Awesome card and your mixed background of, as you say, graphic and floral is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very clever combination of stamps and I love the colours you used. I am a big fan of MIM but haven't been able to take part for a few weeks (and wasn't feeling that inspired by the challenge) but having seen yours, I might just change my mind!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card...
ReplyDeleteA beautiful card, Richard and such an amazing quote. Thanks for sharing this with us!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, Richard! Absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! It reminds me of a trellis with vines. Very inspirational... and I like your idea of the Halloween and Christmas theme. I'm looking forward to seeing them. Have a great day! :-)
ReplyDeleteAmazing Job!
ReplyDeleteAWESOME CARD!!!Love your sentiment!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, Richard! 2 unexpected stamped paired! Great in chartreuse. You have an eye for color and arrangement! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI would have never thought of using those two images together. They look great with that color combo. Also your technique of using a negative die cut then filling it in to stamp your sentiment over is quite clever. Lovely card.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Great stamps together at the background!
ReplyDeleteStriking combination of colors and patterns! Love the background!
ReplyDeleteOooh, geometrics and florals?!? Yes, please! Wonderful combination, Richard.
