Mr Cardmaker has No Control, Whatsoever

Well, I seem to have lost control of myself on these cards.  More, MORE, MORE seems to be the watchword here, and it just has GOT to quit!  I mean, for REALS.

Take, for instance, Charlie's birthday card.
I made this-

I mean, is this just LUNACY?
Now, I DO like the little cupcake.  I used my crimper to make the liner.  Yes, my crimper.  That thing I use mostly to make padding for hefty cards.  You know you have one hiding in the dusty back part of your closet somewhere.
Oh yeah, and that's a cloud die making the frosting.  That, and some Stickles.
I used paper to "thread" that button.  Seems much easier than doing the whole needle thing.
I was pretty happy with the whole cupcake thing.

Then I think I took about an hour to do those fussy cut banner flags.  Oh, and I fussy cut the sun. And that cherry. I am SUPER glad that maraschino cherries are ALL red.

Did you notice that little banner paper pieced into the sentiment there?  Who does that?  Me, that's who.

Gave the Cuttlebug a workout too, with all the die cutting and dry embossing.  Oh, and can't leave the punches alone either.  Had to grab one for that top piece.

And washi.  See those red dots along the bottom?  Washi.

Ridiculous.  Hoo boy.

He liked it.  A lot.  I guess I do too.
.....................................................................

But, it's really getting out of hand.  Really.
But, trust me, it ain't getting any saner around here any time soon!
Stay tuned.

Thanks for stopping by!
All Best-
Richard

  1. Hey mister! Sometimes more is MORE! If it makes you and the recipient smile, why not? Personally, I love how cheery it is!

P.S. Paper to thread the button? Genius!!

Enjoy the rest of the week! XOXO

  2. Now that's a party card, for sure! Brilliant idea to use a cloud die for frosting, by the way, (Also, let me just say, I almost never leave comments... but your posts always seem so conversational, and your cards so happy & fun, that I'm absolutely compelled to respond!) Have a great Thursday!

  3. Bwahaha....so nice to know that I'm not the only looney crafter out here! A card that I'm sure will take 10 minutes can take hours! Love this one, and I'm sure that it was a huge hit! The clouds on the cupcake are priceless, and dang...all that fussy cutting? Made you take up drinking, right? lol.... Great card, sir! Thanks for sharing :)

  4. OMG..the rantings of a nearly mad man...or brilliant man. It's a fine line between the two, ya know. I think Charlie's card is SO glamorously fun. Cloud icing, paper threaded button, paper pieced flags...it's nearly more than one mortal can take. It's fabulous and takes all the angst out of aging, at least for me it does. ;)
Fabulicious job and Happy Birthday to Charlie too.

  6. Wonderful, wonderful card!
I like it when your cards are out of control!!!!
    Of course he liked it!
I eyeballed the icing on the cupcake before I read about it!
(Hmmmm, that looks suspiciously like some cloud dies I just bought!)
Which is a lot different than: Hmmmmm, I could do that!
    And never do!
Thanks for the crimper info, yeah I have one!

  9. Mmmmmmm I love the smell of excess in the morning : ) Seriously, I was raised with not much so sometimes I just love to walk into Sam's or Costco and just breathe in all that stuff! But really, if you looked at that card and tried to find something to take away from it, you couldn't, not without ruining it. It's gorgeous, vibrant, beautiful, exciting, and so obviously made for someone special. There is a time and place for CAS, and this wasn't it. But, Luv, do yourself a favor and get the little banner dies : ) Thanks for sharing your artful gift.
